About Us

Our Core Values:

Mission:

Collaborative Divorce Professionals Alliance is a group of unaffiliated, like-minded legal, mental health, and financial professionals dedicated to practicing and promoting the Collaborative Family Law Team Model, encouraging families to maximize options, maintain dignity and preserve respect as they make this life transition.

Philosophy:

We believe that all professionals can play a vital role in Collaborative Family Law cases. If lawyers, mental health professionals and financial experts are introduced at the beginning of each case, they have an opportunity to establish a relationship with the clients and create an environment that insures the greatest likelihood of success. The level of participation of each of the professionals in a case will be decided by the clients.

Vision:

We envision a culture in which Collaborative Family Law is the prevailing method for resolving family law disputes in Texas and around the world. We promote the interdisciplinary team model as the most effective way for Collaborative Family Law cases to be resolved.

Membership Qualifications:

Each of our members must display a commitment to the Collaborative Law Process by:

  1. Completing at least one two-day Collaborative Family Law training each year;
  2. Participating in a substantial number of Collaborative Family Law cases;
  3. Maintaining membership in the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals; and
  4. Committing to educate and spread the word to the public and other professionals about the interdisciplinary team approach to Collaborative Family Law.

History:

The Collaborative Divorce Professionals Alliance was formed by a group of lawyers, mental health professionals and financial experts in the Central Texas Area who were committed to the Collaborative Family Law process. Our experience has shown that Collaborative Family Law cases work better if members of all three professions are involved at the beginning of a case, allowing the clients decide what assistance they will need from each of the professionals as their case progresses.

This method of dispute resolution, which differs somewhat from the "Collaborative Divorce" model and the "lawyer-only" model, has become known as the "Texas Model." The founding members of the Collaborative Divorce Professionals Alliance have joined together to educate the public and other professionals about the Texas Model for Collaborative Family Law.
